About the authorThis web site was devised by me, Lee Smart. I was born in March 1971 in Merthyr Tydfil in South Wales. At the age of 8, I was dragged kicking and screaming to Warwickshire, where I spent all of my teenage years. Upon gaining four 'A'-Levels at college in Nuneaton, I started work at Rolls-Royce near Coventry then went to Leeds University where I studied Mechanical Engineering. I graduated from Leeds with an Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering. I spent four and a half years in the Performance Department at Rolls-Royce, supporting the day-to-day running of the computer network. I later moved on secondment to the Test Engineering department where I was involved in all aspects of gas turbine testing and data acquisition. During this time, I was responsible for two major data acquisition and analysis systems based around Windows NT, Windows 3.11, Sun Solaris and DOS(!). I left Rolls-Royce in 1999 to explore the world of IT contracting and have worked in Saudi Arabia and all over the UK including most of The Midlands, London, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. I have worked for a range of clients on Windows XP and 2000 based rollouts, including EDS in Telford on large rollout projects for the DWP, Barclays Bank and the MoD. I have also worked for CSC and BT on other major rollout and infrastructure replacement projects.
